Optimised for Direct-to-Home (DTH) broadcasting, EUTELSAT 9A supplies coverage across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East for TV channels and platforms. Adjacent to Eutelsat's premium HOT BIRD position, reception of channels from both locations is possible with off-the-shelf dual-feed dishes.
At end-2012 there were 350 channels broadcasting from 9В° East, with 50 high definition TV channels. Broadcasters are attracted to the cost-effective rates and the possibility to reach the HOT BIRD satellites at 13В° East, the premium European broadcast neighbourhood, with a simple dual-feed installation.
Among the TV platforms using the EUTELSAT 9A satellite are the Greek package OTE, Hungarian package AustriaSat Magyarors, the German KabelKiosk service, and third largest German cableoperator TeleColombus to transmit TV channels to head-ends.
